1945: "When the ship pulled into the harbor I could see bodies still
floating, killed by the atomic bomb. I saw all the dead Japanese,
the children, women and elders. I went to the crater where the bomb
had landed and the devastation, the carnage, brought me back to the
feelings of Big Hole where my great-grandfather fought in that war
down there, and the way women and children and old people were massacred
or killed (at Big Hole ). And that kind of almost a comparison to
what I seen with my own eyes. We honor you Horace for your dedicated service. |
